These are some of our doelings 2013
This farm was first dairy farm then went to beef cattle and still is but we have added goats now.
Well it all started when I wanted one goat to eat the weeds in the barnyard cause the cows and horses would not, so Mrs B showed up a dairy type then wanted some kids so needed Mrs B then it started had to get more then culled alot and wanted registered ones but we did a lot of reading to figure out what breed we wanted , then we decided on Boer goats, we retained a lot of kids and purchased a lot of does from reputable breeders, and meet a lot of good people, and are starting to produce great looking animals.
In keeping with the productivity of the land, we raise red Angus beef cattle, egg-laying hens and Boer goats. This region is known for its’ harsh winters and light soils, so grass fed cattle are the norm in this region. The Red Angus breed, originally from Scotland, is well-adapted to this style of farming. They are hardy and can withstand the winters outdoors, and they are built to produce beef on a forage-based diet, with minimal if any grain inputs. This creates a carcass higher in Omega -3 fats, with a lower cholesterol than typical feedlot, corn-fed beef.
A steep learning curve over the past 5 years has led to a flock of 40 does and 2 show-quality Boer bucks, and a growing roster of happy clients who keep coming back for more kids each year.
Boers are known for their docility, their hardiness and resistance to disease, and their stellar weight gain ratios. Carcass quality with Boers is unmatched in the goat breeds. On the farm, you will find a high quality selection of purebred, percentage and commercial goats.
Another new addition on the farm has been some Nubian Does
Today, at the farm, you can see the results of five years of hard work, constant upgrades, and continuous learning about this new venture with the goats. We really injoy working with the goats . The kids available for sale now are the picture of health, strong constitutions and conformation with an eye to longevity and are always happy to receive visitors, and discuss your needs.
